Inshore fishing has been on fire. Reports of Redfish, Flounder, Trout and Blackdrum being caught along the Jetties in Little River. The Flounder bite has been coming on Mud Minnows on a Carolina Rig or a empty Jighead. Look for this trend to continue through the month of June as the water warms up.
Offshore the Mahi have showed up and are being caught one after another on the troll along with Blackfin Tuna and King Mackerel.
South Grand Strand
Inshore the Flounder bite has been doing great in the creek mouths and inlet again Mud Minnows are the bait of choice. Once the mullet begin to run look for that to be your bait of choice for all species Flounder, Reds, Blackdrum, Bluefish and Spanish will all start to feed on Finger Mullet. The Spanish Mackerel bite has started to heat up and the Kings are moving closer to shore as the weather warms. OO Clark spoons behind a Planer are the go to for spanish but once they get into thick schools they will hit any metal thrown at them. Kings are hitting on a basic Duster Rigs baited with Cigar Minnows.
Offshore is all about the bottom fishing. Vermillion Snapper, Grouper, Black Sea Bass, Triggers, and more have all been a steady bite since the water warmed up.
Pier and Surf
The piers have been producing some Spanish Mackerel lately along with a King here and there look for the King bite to pick up as the water warms and they push inshore. Whiting and Croaker are starting to bite well off the Pier and Surf. Pompano and Bluefish are being caught along the surf the morning bite has been better then later in the day. |
